RUBEN CHAPA

August 31, 1938 - January 1, 2024

Our beloved Ruben Chapa, age 85, resident of San Antonio, Texas joined our Heavenly Father on Monday, 1st day of January 2024 whom was born in New Braunfels, Texas and preceded in death by parent's Juan Chapa and Juanita Trejo Chapa.

Ruben Chapa was an independent and private man. He depended on no one, always resolved his own matters, and never complained. People who knew him, enjoyed his sense of humor, smiles, and personality. He retired with many years at Kelly AFB and enjoyed his hobby sport in golfing. He entered with Weekender Golf Groups and spent most of his weekends on golf courses and tournaments. Won many trophies and was greatly respected as a professional golfer. He spent many hours scratching lottery tickets on his down time and enjoyed playing bingo. He loved to dance, enjoy the outdoor sunshine, and listen to his favorite music by "Fito Olivares."

Ruben is preceded in death by his Siblings: Enrique, Erasmo, Rosa, Raul, Jesse and wife Margaret Chapa of 56 years. He is survived by his children: Margarita Chapa Castillo, Ruben Chapa Jr., Stella Chapa Tercero, Maria Lainson, and Felipe Chapa; 14 Grandchildren/ 20 Great Grandchildren and Siblings: Ramon, Alicia, Maria Elena, Leonor, and Luis.

Visitation will be held form 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Ortiz Mortuary. Short visitation available from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024. Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m.; San Fernando Cemetery II, everyone attending services, masks are optional.
