Obituary

Mary Jane (de la Garza) Marin, surrounded by family, passed peacefully from this earth on December 6, 2024.

Mary Jane was born on February 9, 1929, in San Antonio, Texas. The only daughter of Rafael de la Garza and Manuela (Luna) de la Garza.

Mary Jane enjoyed traveling, gambling, coffee, and conversation. We could always count on her to keep everyone up to date on the latest happenings, goings on, and news. She had many friends that she kept in contact with since her days working at Our Lady of the Lake University and the Archdiocese of San Antonio. She was a determined woman who paved her own path and spoke directly about people and life. She was very proud to share how much her grandchildren were achieving and impacting the world. A life-long learner, Mary Jane surprised all of her family by having a social media presence well into her 90s! She was a good and faithful servant to her God with special devotion to St. Jude.

Mary Jane is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Marin Sr. and her daughter-in-law, Elvia Marin.

She is survived by her children, Louis Marin Jr., Mary Louise Marin, Steven Marin (Linda), Carlos Marin (Elena), Gloria Ann Adams, Rose Mary Vargas (Marco), Arthur Marin (Edna); 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family and friends. She will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved her.
