"A life well lived" you've heard it before, but rarely is it accurate or true. For Maria Isabel Garcia Vargas nothing could be closer to the truth. Born on Valentine's Day 1925… yes, that's right, she was 99 years old. Grandma Vargas (Wita) embodied wisdom, patience, compassion, and love. The true matriarch of the greater Vargas and Carrillo clans. Grandma Vargas taught loyalty and perseverance through actions and not words. She loved to knit and sew, and her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were frequently the lucky beneficiaries of her expertise and creativity. Though her time on earth appeared long, her loss is already felt far and wide. Grandma Vargas is preceded in heaven by her husband, Sylvestre C. Vargas; her parents, Juan Francisco Garcia, and Maria De Los Angeles Garcia; her sister, Olympia Canales; brothers, Juan F., Heriberto and Eliazar Garcia. She is survived by her children, Alice (Anthony deceased), Mario (Chrissy), Raul (Paula), Richard (Mary) and Henry (Tina); sister, Minerva Garanzuey; her beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren,many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. We love you, Mom. You are dearly missed.
