Johnny Lares Lomas was called home by his Heavenly Father on July 2, 2024, just a few weeks shy of his 73rd birthday. He was born on July 18, 1951, in San Antonio, TX to Eliseo and Otila Lares Lomas.

Johnny Lares Lomas is preceded in death by his parents, Eliseo R. Lomas, Otila Lares Lomas, brother Eliseo Lomas, Jr., sister-in-law Anita Lomas, & brother Alfred Lomas.

He is survived by his loving (wife) Rosa Linda Lomas, (children) Sandra Lomas (D. Millsap), Aaron Lomas (Jessica), Daniel Lomas (Samantha), James Lomas (April), (sister - in-Law) Margaret Lomas, (brother & sister - in Law) Phillip & Adela Lomas, (grandchildren) Jacqueline, Daniel Jr., Aaron, Austin, Bryson, Arianna, Jimmy, Lilly, & Abel.

The Lomas family is very proud of the legacy he leaves behind. He was a man of prayer with strong, unwavering faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He loved his family dearly and always made sure they were taken care of. Johnny especially loved his wife Rosa Linda and always shared the story of how he knew she was the one for him. His children and grandchildren were his life. Johnny loved his country and proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He was assigned as a Materials Facility Specialist stationed at Lowry AFB in Colorado, Forbes AFB in Kansas, and England AFB in Louisiana. Throughout his life, Johnny was involved in athletics and sports. He was a distinguished high school athlete at Kennedy HS (9th grade) and later Memorial HS. In 1969, he was named All-District Cornerback and Fullback. While in the military, he played baseball on the base team. Upon returning to San Antonio, he played city softball for many years on various teams. Later in his life, he played and coached teams in the San Antonio Senior Softball League (SASSL). Johnny was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a fan por vida of the Memorial Minuteman, Houston Astros, Dallas Cowboys, and Lavernia Bears Baseball Team (13U). Upon release from the military, he worked civil service at Ft. Sam Houston and Randolph AFB. He later became a self-employed master Plasterer, a trade he learned from his father. It was a family endeavor with at times 3 generations of Lomas' men working together. Johnny was a father figure to many of his sons' friends and took them hunting and fishing too. Johnny loved tending to his vegetable garden, barbecuing, listening to music, and was known as an excellent dancer.
