Francisco Vivian Garcia was born on December 2, 1947, to the late Elpidio C Garcia and Maria Cortez Garcia.

Frank was raised in San Antonio, Texas with his brothers and sister, Amado Garcia, Gilberto Norberto Garcia, and Dolores Elizabeth Garcia.

He graduated from Fox Tech High School and worked as a butcher at the Calaveras Meat Market at 17 years of age. At 19, he enlisted and joined the Marines, where he soon after fought in the Vietnam War. Upon returning to the United States from the war, Franciso worked for Alco Tools where he learned the trade of becoming a machinist. Our dad stated that he was very grateful for this opportunity because he was able to take that learned trade and join the Lackland Air Force Base Civil Service, while still being part of the Air Force Reserves on weekends. After retiring from the Air Force, Francisco worked at the Alamo Dome as an Usher, then joined the Northside ISD as a bus driver where he worked for about 5 years. He then began working for the Inman Christian Center where he drove the elderly around the community on outings. He worked with Inman till May of 2026.

Francisco has gone to join his late wife of 51 years, Linda V Garcia in heaven. Together hand in hand, against the world, they raised a beautiful family that to this day continues to grow. Their children are: Petra Ramos, Angelina Reyna and her husband Gustavo Reyna, Frank Garcia Jr. and his wife Erin Garcia, Elizabeth Hernandez and her late husband, Mario Hernandez.

Throughout his lifetime Francisco was blessed with 19 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.

Francisco’s unwavering faith in his Heavenly Father, is the foundation on which he’s built his life. He was a kind, brave, caring and an unimaginably generous husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. It is with great sadness that the family of Francisco Vivian Garcia announce the passing of their loved one on Monday, September 14th of 2026, at the age of 78.

Monday, September 28, 2026, for the Visitation and Rosary Services at the Ortiz Funeral Home on 3114 Culebra Road, from 4-8 pm and Tuesday, September 29, 2026, for the Funeral and Committal Services beginning at 9 am at the Ortiz Funeral Home, followed by the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on 1520 Harry Wurzbach Road, at 11 am.
